The first annual GETDOWN Music Festival & Campout will be held Labor Day Weekend on 30 beautiful wooded acres located 35 minutes north of Chapel Hill, NC. The GETDOWN will feature some of the region’s most renowned jam, groove, funk and reggae artists. With over two dozen acts on two stages and no overlapping sets, surely everyone will get a chance to get down and discover new music!

This intimate three-day gathering will include on-site camping, food, arts & crafts and other activities including a disc golf course! In addition, late night jams, drum circles, bonfires and good vibes will shape this harmonious communal experience.

Location & Directions

The GETDOWN is being held on private property located about 35 minutes north of Chapel Hill.  Only those who purchase tickets will know the exact location of this festival.  You will be notified via e-mail of the directions once we receive your ticket purchase/payment confirmation.

Again, this is a pre-sale only event.  We are not planning on selling any tickets at the gate.

If you would like to ensure that you and all your friends get down together at The GETDOWN, then we highly suggest you PURCHASE TICKETS (link) NOW before they sellout!

Please make every effort to carpool to the site.

Camping Information

Tent Camping is FREE and is on a first come, first serve basis...the best spots will get taken first!  There will be a trailer that runs from the parking lots to the tent camping areas to help with the transportation and unloading of your gear if need be.  We encourage everyone to travel LIGHT and to Pack-In, Pack-Out everything...including your trash if possible.  We will provide you with plenty of trash bags. 
Vehicle-Camping (i.e. camping next to your car, camper, RV, van, etc.) is extremely limited and costs $15 per vehicle.  Note that there are approximately only thirty (30) Vehicle-Camping spots.
**Before you purchase a Vehicle-Camping Pass; please ensure that you, your vehicle and all of your parties' gear will AT LEAST FIT into the approximated ~ 23’ x 25’ pre-defined footprint for these spots.
*Only one (1) V-C pass is required per vehicle thus, only one (1) person has to purchase one (1) V-C pass; the other people in your vehicle do not need to purchase a V-C pass.

What to Bring:

  • Good Attitude  
  • Camping Equipment – Please understand that most of the camping at this festival is of the ‘primitive-nature’ – type; that is, it is in a heavily wooded environment.  A limited number of Vehicle-Camping Passes are available; and must be purchased on-line prior to your arrival.
  • This is the woods folks…there will be plenty of bugs, including ticks, etc.  So, bring A LOT of Insect Repellent!
  • Positive Vibes
  • Your favorite beverage(s) (NO GLASS please!)  Note that you will be able to purchase on-site items such as water, ice, snacks; plus a variety / selection from our on-site food vendors.
  • KINDness
  • Any / All Instruments – hand drums, acoustic guitars, egg shakers, beautiful voices, etc.
  • Golf Discs
  • Sun block
  • Sunglasses
  • Frisbee
  • Solar shower – although, you can wash off in the creek if you use organic/chemical free soap (e.g. Dr. Bronner’s soap)
  • Extra toilet paper, just in case… (note that we will have Porta Potties)
  • Money for food, arts & crafts, etc. (there will be an ATM on-site; so bring your debit card)

Trash and Recycling

Please help us reduce our waste by following this simple request - Pack In, Pack Out! We will be providing trash bags for everyone and there will be trash and recycling bins located throughout the property. Please help KEEP THE SCENE CLEAN and do not litter. Please note that we will be collecting aluminum can tabs for a Dialysis CHARITY cause.

FAQ

  • How old must I be to attend? 18 years old or older unless accompanied by a parent/adult.
  • Are children allowed? YES, children 12 and under are allowed and will be admitted for FREE!
  • Are pets allowed? Please, NO PETS - thank you.
  • Can my friends and I carpool to the event? Yes, parking may be limited, so if you can, please make every effort to carpool to the site.
  • Can I bring glass bottles? Please, NO GLASS.
  • Will alcohol be on sale? NO, but you can bring your own as long as you're of legal age.
  • Will there be an ATM on site? YES
  • Will there be FOOD and DRINKS available for purchase?  YES, we will have multiple food vendors serving all types of food and drinks for your consumption pleasure.
  • How far is the closest STORE?  A gas station is only 1.5 miles away and the closest Wal-Mart is located about 15 miles away in Hillsborough, NC.
  • Are there SHOWERS? We encourage you to bring your own solar shower; although we may have a few set up for general use.  There is a nice little creek too to wash off in; however no soap or chemicals!  Please only use organic/chemical free soap (e.g. Dr. Bronner’s soap)
  • Will there be First Aid?  YES, we will have full-time EMT medical personnel on-site during the entire festival.
  • Will there be ICE for sale?  YES; we will have a designated time and place at least once per day on Saturday and on Sunday for all of your chillin’ needs.
  • Can I bring a BIKE?  Motorized bikes or other vehicles such as ATV's, Golf Carts, etc. of any kind are NOT allowed.  Bicycles are not needed and should be left at home.   
  • Are camp FIRES allowed?  NO, however there will be designated bonfires throughout the festival property grounds for drum circle fun and socializing.  Please no unauthorized campfires or open flames.  No charcoal grills, however the use of propane is permitted.
  • How far away from my vehicle will I be tent camping?  Vehicles and tent camping are separate, please gear up for walking between 100-500 yards from your vehicle to your (tent) camp site.  Note that we will have golf carts, trailers, etc. to help haul any gear that you may need help carrying.
  • Can I leave the festival and return?  YES, however for your safety we highly encourage everyone to stay within the festival grounds until they are ready to go home for good; or strictly in the event of an emergency.
